Performance record in Brazil
There's a new performance record at ArcelorMittal in Brazil.
After facing a serious crisis in the dolomite materials supply for the steel ladles in 2018, ArcelorMittal Juiz de Fora (Brazil) was obliged to use MgO-C bricks in order to ensure production continuity. Using dolomite bricks the plant had an average performance of approx. 105 heats per lining (consumption: approx. 10 linings per month) in 2017. In the first half of the year 2018 the plant was reaching an average performance of approx. 50 heats per lining (consumption: approx. 21 linings per month) with MgO-C bricks.
In May 2018 the purchasing department of ArcelorMittal Brasil started looking for alternatives and DOLOMITE FRANCHI / INTOCAST, with its past superior performance, was presented as an alternative. The negotiations were concluded in the following month, and DOLOMITE FRANCHI / INTOCAST closed a package deal to supply 40 linings (1,200 tons) in the second half of 2018 to ArcelorMittal Juiz de Fora. The consumption of the Pentabrick A05 / A01 / HR27 for all the working lining started in October 2018, and with the fourth lining the plant reached a performance record of 164 heats with the potential to reach 192 heats.
The customer is very satisfied with the DOLOMITE FRANCHI / INTOCAST performance, and we are expecting a regular supply in the future. For 2019 ArcelorMittal has already purchased 45 linings (1,300 tons) from DOLOMITE FRANCHI / INTOCAST and scheduled trials in other ArcelorMittal Brasil plants (Piracicaba / Barra Mansa / Resende) for the first trimester 2019.
