INTOCAST/ALSICAL at TU Bergakademie Freiberg

On 21st of January 2022 Mr. Falk Snatkin from ALSICAL, a subsidiary of INTOCAST AG, gave a lecture on ingot casting at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg. Mr. Snatkin, in addition to his duties at ALSICAL, works in technical field service and technical customer support for INTOCAST's Casting Solutions Team.

The idea for the lecture at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg arose during a discussion with Institute Director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Olena Volkova and research associate Dr.-Ing. habil. Heiner Gutte. ALSICAL had met them last year in October for a planned cooperation in the field of research and analysis of raw materials and products. Since Mr. Snatkin graduated from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, it was obvious to seek cooperation there.

The lecture included all relevant topics of today’s ingot casting technology, for example, the production of high-quality steel products, for the moulding of, crank shafts for ships, prefabricated parts for energy machine construction, such as steam turbine shafts and a variety of special applications, such as caster vessels. In addition to this, all the necessary metallurgical basics were covered, and the use of Casting Auxiliaries was also explained. The lecture was very well received by the participating students, and further events of this kind are being planned.
