We, INTOCAST AG, are a company founded in 1979 that manufactures and markets products for the refractory industry worldwide. With our dedicated team of approximately 280 employees across Germany, we provide our customers with a comprehensive range of products. As EXPERTS ON FIRE , we stand for exceptional expertise and quality in the refractory industry. Our subsidiaries are also active in this field and complement our product portfolio.
What do we do?
We produce shaped and unshaped refractory products, casting aids, and metallurgical slag additives. We also support our customers in processes such as melting, alloying, combustion, and hot forming, which require broad-based research and product development, services we provide to our customers as well.
At the Oberhausen site , INTOCAST AG develops and manufactures refractory magnesia-carbon bricks and monolithic refractory mixes with various raw material compositions. The site’s annual output is around 80,000 tons, with products shipped worldwide. Around 120 employees work at the Oberhausen plant.

We are currently looking for a new team member (m/f/d) to join us as soon as possible and offer a full-time position as Environmental Health & Safety Management Specialist (m/f/d) at our Oberhausen site .
As an Environmental Health & Safety Management Specialist (m/f/d), you will enjoy the following responsibilities:
Occupational Safety Specialist
- Advise the employer, managers, works council, and employees on all safety-related matters, including accident prevention, health protection, fire safety (if applicable), and handling hazardous substances.
- Conduct risk assessments and initiate appropriate countermeasures.
- Investigate accidents and prepare reports, including communication with all relevant authorities (BG, occupational safety authority).
- Ensure compliance with and maintain requirements according to DIN ISO 45001.
- Conduct and document ASA meetings.
- Organize, support, and follow up on monitoring and certification audits as well as internal audits.
- Carry out regular safety inspections, occupational safety committee meetings, and effectiveness checks.
- Prepare an annual report as specified.
- Compile, document, and evaluate monthly occupational safety data (accident statistics).
- Conduct and document occupational safety training (after special incidents and annually for all employees according to §12 Occupational Safety Act) and propose safety-related training for staff.
- Create and maintain the PPE catalog.
- Provide initial safety instructions for new employees, new safety officers, visitors, and external personnel.
- Create, document, and maintain the hazardous substances register (substance list) and associated safety data sheets.
- Welcome visitors and conduct safety briefings, including issuing and maintaining personal protective equipment.
- Plan and organize occupational health examinations for employees at the Oberhausen site in cooperation with the HR department.
- Prepare and assist in drafting operating instructions and internal safety guidelines.
- Create and maintain training plans for the Oberhausen site.
Waste Management Officer
- Monitor waste disposal processes and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Initiate and document waste disposal activities.
- Advise the company on waste management and waste prevention.
- Develop strategies to reduce waste generation.
- Educate and train employees on potential harmful environmental impacts and proper waste handling.
- Provide annual reports to the management board, including an overview of implemented and planned measures.
- Maintain, coordinate, and liaise with the relevant authorities.
Emissions Control Officer
- Advise the management board and employees on all matters related to emissions control.
- Ensure compliance with and implementation of legal regulations (BImSchG and BImSchV), permits, and conditions.
- Initiate and carry out required measurements.
- Train and educate employees on environmental impacts of machinery and equipment.
- Contribute to the development and introduction of environmentally friendly processes.
- Maintain, coordinate, and liaise with the relevant authorities.
- Prepare emergency plans.
- Develop measures to reduce emissions.
- Provide annual reports to the management board, including an overview of implemented and planned measures.
What we’re looking for:
- Completed vocational training or a degree in a technical field.
- Certifications as:
- Occupational Safety Specialist (m/f/d)
- Waste Management Officer (m/f/d)
- Emissions Control Officer (m/f/d)
- Additionally desirable: Fire Safety Officer (m/f/d)
- Excellent knowledge of occupational safety, health protection, and environmental protection, including relevant legislation.
- Experience with DIN ISO 45001.
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Good command of English, at least basic knowledge required.
- Additional knowledge in quality management is desirable.
- A valid Class B driver’s license is mandatory.
